The GEARS method

Technical training for the physical and the mental side of the game.

GEARS Player Development is a baseball and softball training business in Vacaville and Sacramento, California. GEARS coaches run lessons, team training and camps in hitting, pitching, defense and speed at two indoor facilities, The ACE and The Bears Den. Players from any club or school can train here.

The process

Around the bases.

  1. First baseAssessA one-on-one first session. The coach sees where the player is, not where a tryout number says they are.
  2. Second basePlanA training plan built for that player: what to work on, how often, and what better looks like.
  3. Third baseTrainFocused reps indoors, all year, with a coach who knows the plan.
  4. HomeMeasureCheck progress against the plan and adjust. Players and parents see the work show up.

Two yards. No rainouts.

Both are fully indoors, with cages and turf, so the work keeps going when the fields are under water.
